About Me - Your Somme Tour Guide

World War One Tour Guide, Battlefield Somme ToursMike Williamson

Following my early retirement as headteacher of a large Kent school I have been able to devote more time to my great passion; the First World War, especially the battles of the Somme 1916 and 1918.

My interest in the First World War has developed over many years and during the past 12 years I have visited the World War One battlefields on numerous occasions. For the past 2 years I have conducted many tours for visitors from the UK, New Zealand, Canada, Australia and the USA.

In 2004 I purchased a large 150 year old farmhouse in the Somme Department, some 35 minutes away from the 18 mile long battlefield. This house has been lovingly restored by the family and now provides a wonderful base for family holidays and tours of the battlefields.

I have planned a four day World War One and Somme battlefield tour but other longer itineraries to suit personal requests can be arranged.  You tell me where you would like to go and I will do my best to arrange the tour - I have recently arranged ten day trips which included visits to Ypres, The Somme, Normandy, The Champagne region and Verdun.
